Brand New Kitchen Installation

About This Project

Complete Kitchen Transformation from Empty Room to Beautiful Living Space

Transforming an empty room into a fully functional kitchen is an exciting opportunity to create a space that combines practical modern living with timeless design. In this recent project, we completely transformed an unused room within a charming old stone-built home, creating a bespoke kitchen that complements the property’s traditional character while providing all the facilities needed for contemporary life.

The finished kitchen combines natural-looking materials, traditional detailing and modern integrated appliances to create a warm, practical and welcoming space.

Porcelain Limestone-Effect Tiled Flooring

The transformation began with the installation of porcelain limestone-effect floor tiles. These were laid in a random pattern to create a natural, traditional appearance that works particularly well within an older stone-built property.

Narrow grout joints were used alongside a matching grout colour to achieve a clean and relatively seamless finish. The result provides the appearance of natural stone while offering the practical benefits of porcelain, making it a suitable choice for a busy kitchen environment.

The flooring provides a neutral foundation for the rest of the design, allowing the kitchen cabinetry, worktops and traditional splash back tiles to become key features of the finished room.

Bespoke Integrated Kitchen

At the heart of the project is a brand-new integrated kitchen designed to make effective use of the available space. The installation combines traditional styling with modern functionality, creating a kitchen that feels appropriate for the character of the property without compromising on convenience.

The kitchen features a ceramic under-mount Belfast sink, providing a classic focal point that complements the overall cottage-inspired design. A Belfast sink is particularly well suited to traditional and country-style kitchens, helping reinforce the timeless appearance of the room.

The kitchen has also been fitted with practical modern appliances, including an induction hob, integrated fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Integrating these appliances helps maintain a streamlined appearance while providing the convenience expected from a contemporary kitchen.

Stone Worktops for a Timeless Finish

Stone worktops complete the kitchen installation, providing a durable and attractive surface for everyday use. The natural appearance of stone complements the limestone-effect flooring and original stonework of the property, helping the different elements of the room work together as one cohesive design.

Worktops need to combine aesthetics with practicality, particularly in a busy family kitchen. The stone surfaces provide a robust finish while contributing to the timeless appearance of the overall installation.

Traditional Hand-Painted Ceramic Splashback Tiles

One of the standout features of the completed kitchen is the splashback, which has been finished with traditional ceramic hand-painted tiles.

These decorative tiles introduce colour, texture and individuality to the space while creating a strong connection with the property’s traditional character. Their handcrafted appearance adds a distinctive cottage feel and works particularly well alongside the natural stone, Belfast sink and other traditional elements.

Rather than creating a kitchen that feels disconnected from the rest of the property, the splashback helps ensure the new interior respects and enhances the character of the original stone-built home.

Combining Character with Modern Functionality

The completed kitchen demonstrates how a modern kitchen installation can be carefully designed to complement a traditional property. From the porcelain limestone-effect flooring and stone worktops to the Belfast sink and hand-painted ceramic tiles, each element has been selected to create a cohesive and timeless appearance.

At the same time, integrated appliances provide the convenience required for modern everyday living, ensuring the kitchen is not simply attractive but genuinely practical.

The result is a warm, characterful kitchen that respects the heritage and architecture of the original home while providing a comfortable and functional space for cooking, entertaining and everyday family life.

If you are planning a bespoke kitchen renovation or kitchen installation in a traditional or period property, careful material selection and thoughtful design can help you achieve the perfect balance between original character and modern convenience.
